The time has almost come. Thomas Tuchel is trimming down his 55-man shortlist to a 26-man England squad that will be named on Friday.
And while the new manager is expected to name plenty of the usual suspects for his long-awaited first games in charge - a World Cup qualifier double header against Albania and Latvia at Wembley - there are also likely to be a number of surprises and new faces.
Myles Lewis-Skelly and Djed Spence are tipped for maiden call-ups after breakthrough campaigns at Arsenal and Tottenham, while Nottingham Forest's brilliant campaign to date should see Morgan Gibbs-White included again after he featured briefly under interim Lee Carsley for the autumn UEFA Nations League campaign.
Tuchel officially started work on January 1 at the beginning of an 18-month contract and has been busy piecing together a long list of 55 players who have been in his thinking.
The German has been touring Premier League grounds to watch his players in action and he has also set up a hotline from which he has been in regular contact.
And his first squad will be announced on Friday with a press conference to follow later that day. Tuchel's call-ups will then convene on Monday for the first camp under the former Chelsea head coach with the visit of Albania on the Friday night.
The Three Lions will also face Serbia and Andorra in their World Cup qualifying group with FA chiefs previously bullish about their intentions to go all the way in next year's tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
A number of players, including Tottenham Hotspur's James Maddison and Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, have confirmed that Tuchel has been in touch, letting them know that he is in their plans.
But it is unclear whether Ivan Toney, who is now in Saudi Arabia, and Jordan Henderson, who is still at Ajax, will be under consideration.
